The Wormhole Has Turned is an episode of Monsters vs. Aliens. It aired on May 11th, 2013.[1]

Synopsis[]

Dr. Cockroach attempts to create a teleporter in an attempt to outdo Sqweep. Instead, he creates a wormhole is 20ft long and lactose-intolerant, facts that in the hands of the aliens can abuse to a certain limit.

Plot[]

The episode begins with General Monger demanding a missions report from both Team Monster and Team Alien, about a recent meteor shower threatening Egypt. While both sides brag about their heroic efforts, Monger is frustrated over how long it took them to get to Egypt, resulting in damage to the pyramids and Sphinx before their arrival. He opens the floor for suggestions to solve this transportation problem. Dr. Cockroach begins explaining a new fuel source powered by rotten donuts he is working on, but is interrupted by Skweep, who suggests his own aircraft design that is ten times faster than a hypersonic engine. Coverton sweetens the deal by offering to paint flames on the sides. Cockroach becomes flustered by no one listening to him, and in the heat of the moment exclaims he has a teleportation device that can transport them anywhere instantaneously. Skweep is skeptical, as such technology, he notes, is impossible. Monger is convinced, however, and praises Cockroach as he, B.O.B, Susan, and Link exit triumphantly to the lab.

Once inside the lab, Susan asks which invention is the teleportation device. Dr. Cockroach breaks and reveals he made it up in order to show up Skweep. He had dabbled with the idea of teleportation in the past, but the experiment was deemed a failure after the “hamster incident” (when B.O.B asks to see the hamster, the doctor shows that only its front half remains). Still determined, Susan promises that Team Monster will help build a functioning device, even if they do not fully understand the science behind it.

Using spare parts and garbage, the team successfully open a green portal. B.O.B acts as the guinea pig and enters it, disappearing instantly. The team is excited at first, until B.O.B reemerges from another portal slightly across the room. Dr. Cockroach realizes they have accidentally made a wormhole instead, which can only transport them twenty feet away. He also notes that the wormhole is lactose intolerant, which he demonstrates by throwing in a carton of milk, resulting in the portals belching. Cockroach thinks he is ruined, but Link believes he can work with what they have.

A little later, Team Monster has set up an outdoors demonstration for the device, the stage and bleachers facing away from the base’s diner exterior. Skweep and Coverton remain skeptical as Dr. Cockroach promises to send Link anywhere in the world, with Link bringing back a souvenir as proof. Link jumps into the wormhole, which then opens up just behind the bleachers. With each demonstration, he grabs a frozen food item from the diner as “proof.” On the third trial, Skweep and Coverton finally notice what the monsters are doing and realize the wormhole is lactose intolerant. The two goad Link into grabbing dairy products for the next few jumps, which results in the portal gurgling and belching ominously. Recognizing the possible danger, Monger orders Cockroach to turn off the device. Before he can, however, Coverton telepathically grabs several milk cartons and throws them into the portal. The wormhole expands into a massive spiral, sucking in most everyone in attendance and throwing them around in the air from one portal to the other. Cockroach tries to shut it off, but it is unresponsive. The wormhole has become self-powering, meaning it will continue to grow until the entire planet is torn in half.

The wormhole grows and grows, sucking in more and more debris. As soldiers, monsters, and Converton continue being thrown around violently (B.O.B actually enjoying it), Monger orders Skweep to solve the problem. Skweep panics, as there is no protocol for such an event. Susan encourages Dr. Cockroach one last time, and as Skweep reiterates that it is impossible, the doctor stands triumphantly and begins building something. Cockroach tells Susan he will need her to activate her Ginormica powers in order for the plan to work, stating there is no time to explain why. On his command, Susan grows into her giantess form. The item Cockroach was constructing turns out to be a makeshift shoe blaster, which he uses to fire a boot into Susan’s gut as she is growing. The force is enough to knock Susan over, causing her to fall butt-first into the wormhole. Her booty now gargantuan, the wormhole is now clogged, Susan’s disembodied rump floating behind the bleachers. Everyone crashes into Susan’s face, and she safely drops them to the ground.

Dr. Cockroach reveals that the wormhole will need a few hours to digest the lactose, so Susan will need to clog it until then. General Monger commends the doctor on his outstanding work. Skweep is incredulous, noting that Cockroach never actually solved the transportation problem, but is silenced by Link, who notes Skweep did not help save the world today. The episode ends with Cockroach stating he cannot take credit for the safety of the world, as he was just the “idea man,” and that Susan’s large rear end was the real hero (“Truly it was Susan’s ginormic bum that saved the planet!”). Still separated from her cheeks, she demands he not put that last part in the report for this event.

Trivia[]

  • Dr. Cockroach's teleportation device that he built in this episode returns in "The Two Faces of Dr. Cockroach."
  • This is the second instance in the "Monsters vs. Aliens" television series that Susan's buttocks are mentioned or referenced; in this episode, Dr. Cockroach's wormhole is about to grow until it splits the world in half. To stop it, Dr. C uses a pole, duct tape, a boot and a spring to create a catapult-like device. The spring flings the boot into the air. Susan is hit in the stomach with it while she is using her Ginormica powers, causing her to fall backwards into the wormhole. The other side of the wormhole opens up and showcases Susan's rear end to all of Area Fifty-Something. In the end, Dr. C says, "Truly, it was Susan's ginormous bum that saved the planet." The first instance is in the theme song when Vornicarn jumps on top of Susan's butt, and after he jumps off, her buttocks jiggle.
  • Additionally, this is not the only time Susan’s booty gets sucked into a vacuum. The second time occurs in It Came From Level Z.
